Smith Micro Forums under attack?
-
I had this week issues with my FB account. Three times somebody try to hack it. I had allerts from FB that somebody ask for a password recovery. Get really worst with this crap.
-
All of my social media accounts have been attacked in the past two weeks, as well as my website. Hm.
-
@James_in_3D Strange, there is for sure something going on. I mean what interest could have somebody hack Social Media accounts from us? My, at last is only full with Art, cute Animals and Nature. I am even not very Political active. Sometimes here there a little comment, thats all.

@Ladonna A bout six or eight months ago, someone went through my website. This isn't unusual. But then they looked up my website on the Wayback Machine and went through every single page and post. It was a bit obsessive. So I took my site off of the Wayback Machine. After that I started to get password reset requests on my various accounts. Things were quiet until a couple of weeks ago when it started up again. Who knows what's going on.
-
@James_in_3D Wow, this is strange. My website I just begin to build back, it was online, but only the front page finish. Now I have to look for extra security here. Hell, this is just a stupid Artsite , whats wrong with the people?
-
@Ladonna This is the only place it hasn't happened to me. EDIT: and Hivewire. But I use Hivewire's sign in app.
-
@James_in_3D I am not often at HiveWire, DAZ i usually just use the store and the vendor forum. Facebook I am active, but only for Art, Groups ( mostly art or science , Music) and here I am active. So I see really no reason what could be so interesting on my account. Here is something very fishy in my POV.
-
@James_in_3D Yeah, same with my two hotmail accounts. Maybe it's Hillary Clinton. Or Russians. ;-)
-
@matb LOL, When nothing goes, Putin's fault.
No seriously, I think those are more bored , stupid ,retarded kids.
-
-
@James_in_3D hehehe, the greys or reptilians?
-
@Ladonna Pretty sure it was this guy.
-
@James_in_3D Yep, find him always suspicious

If they can gain control of your Facebook account, they can launch "spearphish" attacks directed to your friends.
-
@seachnasaigh Could be possible.

This is a total pain in the butt...
Thanks for your patients, seems to have stopped for now. More will be done about it in the background thou...
Nope, they were back at it last night. I was up all night at my job and saw them attack. Must have been about thirty posts or so.
-
The system they are using appears to be automated.
It changes ip ranges, etc. Just about every attack.Changes are being weighed and once approved we can go from there.
We don't want to do changes that affect the people here, and at the same time don't want to do something that wont actually help.It happens at every forum, and yes it is a pain in the butt to deal with.
-
Yes, there's been an influx of spam at RDNA since there's no one checking the forums. Luckily they've only been posting in the Newsletter Archive forum, so far, so they're not getting in the way of regular forum threads.
-
We are thinking about making email validation mandatory in order to create new posts.
Also, we've detected multiple fake accounts, non-related to these attacks.
This change would apply retroactively to every account found in the system, thus solving the problem with accounts using fake emails for both existing users and newly registered ones.

I see three more posts this morning. Man, those spambots are getting good! They can validate email addresses now. :)
