EZSkin and the overlay option

  • Poser Ambassadors

    Hi,
I would like to overlay a tattoo on top of the torso in EZSkin.
    First, is that possible?
If it is possible, I am confused how to do it.
I would like to have a file with the tattoo on it.
It seems to want a body part on top of a body part.
    How would I:
Overlay a texture map with the tattoo, (call it "wildcat tat.png or jpg")
On top of the Torso with a trans map.
I see no way to browse to the "wildcat tat.png or jpg"
    Any help is appreciated.

The ability to add layers was never implemented in EZSkin.
It was on the roadmap for development but when D3D's script came out it with those features I didn't see the need to add them to EZSkin.
The overlay function that you have found was implemented solely to aid blending lips on a figure's face. It may well be useful for other situations too, but I don't know of them.

  • @lululee
You do not add the overlay as an image.
you use two shaders: one for the base skin (you have that one) and one for the overlay, which you may need to add yourself as a new material.
The overlay procedure in EZSkin merges the two shaders and adds the mixing on the basis of the trans map.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the valuable info.
    Snarleygribbly,
EZSkin is such an amazing gift. I really appreciate it.
What is D3D's script called? Is it in the marketplace?

    F_Verbas.
How would I add those lip shaders.
Are they applied on another layer?

I'd hazard a guess to say snarlygribbly is referring to D3D Perfect Skin SSS Pro. Their is also a lite version, but it doesn't do overlays. Also their is a discussion about tattoo's as overlays over at cgbytes poser forum I believe.

Ignore my reply. Your mention of overlays made me jump to the conclusion it was EZSkin3 you were talking about.
    Apologize for the confusion.

    Hi F_Verbas,
You are correct. it is EZSkin3 that I am talking about.

In the .pdf manual that comes with EZSkin3 there is a description on how to do overlays. Situation may have changed since, though. The feature was still under devlopment when the manual was written.
