If I want to look at porn I go look at porn, if I see something done in Poser that's porn-like most of the time I can't see past the horrible physics defying poses and hot air balloon sized breasts that people give the figures.

What irks me about this isn't that they're posting "nsfw" images, it's that someone could post an unclothed V4 in a T pose but give it huge boobs and that image will get 500 replies of "Awesome image" and "Amazing work!" in a week, yet someone who makes an entire universe of completely morphed characters gets two replies in a year.

Damn! I gotta try that "T" pose idea. Absolutely brilliant! LOL

  • @DarthJ I don't understand your irritation. You still get to post what you want and those who don't want this forum to be low level porn hub get their wishes too. Personally I couldn't care less, but I respect the sensibilities of members who might. Are you so determined to shape the world to your personal tastes that even this minimal courtesy needs ridicule? This is not about people being special snowflakes, it's about being courteous. Is that really unreasonable?
There's a whole galaxy of Tumblr and DeviantArt out there for you to display your most mature work to much wider audiences.

@Ladonna > Nice, please don't forget the rest of the trigger warnings too. Is this a artist forum with adults or are we in the kindergarten where nobody is is responsive for his own?

But that's exactly the point. You know nothing about the audience here. You don't even know that they ARE all adults (although it's kind of assumed).

You cannot be responsible for MY response to your work. Supposing I'm a person of strong religious or moral beliefs, or viewing at work. Can I not enjoy this forum any more?

This kind of feels to me like people who demand their rights to be nudist outside schools. I always think that there are other motivations for that kind of exhibitionism. People who want to shove their erotica down the throats of those who are not interested are clearly getting some less obvious need met by doing so. Personally, I'd be uncomfomfortable revealing that about myself. I was mildly irritated when Able referred to the guys here as "dirty old men". Now I wonder if she was actually on the mark in some cases.

@matb I guess I can read very well between the lines and see who is adult and who not. I am not a porn fan and post very, very, rare pin ups. And when, my characters are always covered with underwear or bikini. So I really could not care less if this forum turn into a fairy land also like many others.
But to read in every forum, on every site that somebody is offended, because of something is tiresome. This is a art site. If people feel offended because of human body's , maybe they have the wrong hobby.
As long no porn is posted here, I see no reason of excessive trigger warnings.
When an artist has to fear all the time that his image may hurt some diffuse feelings, than we go in a wrong direction.
Don't miss understand me, I am against hate, violence, excessive porn and think they belong on special sites , where people have the same taste.
But here? Till now I did not see any image which offends me. And I am a woman.

  • @Ladonna > But to read in every forum, on every site that somebody is offended, because of something is tiresome.

I'm sure it is, but one might as well say "On every forum where people post racist, Nazi imagery there are always whiners." If average people are being upset on every single forum because the line is constantly being pushed, of course you'll hear people complaining. Deviant Art, a community with Deviant in the title, and which caters to far stronger art than you would ever find in a Poser forum, has a rating system that covers and hides nude imagery. Even Tumblr, about as much of a wild kingdom as a mainstream site gets, has a rating system so that people who would rather not see adult imagery do not have to.
The fact that you then go on to place limits on the levels of sexual imagery that YOU find acceptable only goes to suggest to me that you are just as likely to find sexual imagery offensive, the only issue is where you draw the line, in which case you occupy no higher moral ground than anyone else. I'm reminded of a joke:
"A man goes up to a woman in a bar and asks if she would sleep with Brad Pitt for a million dollars. She says 'Of course I will.' He then asks if she will sleep with him for $10. She gets outraged, to which he responds, 'We've already established that you're a whore, now we're simply quibbling over the price.'" ;-)
I have an EXTREMELY liberal attitude towards sexual imagery, however I am also sensitive to those who are not. It seems like such a very, very tiny inconvenience to attach a collapsible warning that shows consideration to those who might not share my laissez faire attitude.
As for being offended here, no, nothing here has offended me either, although I do yawn massively when I see yet another woman with oversized breasts. But if that works for some, I'm certainly not going to question what stimulates their libido. Each to their own.
But perhaps I am overreacting. If I went to my local art supplies store, I would not expect to see it filled with images of naked women. If I was in my local gallery, I would not consider it unreasonable, although again, I would find it desperately unimaginative. Perhaps in the renders section of this forum anything up to a 15 rating should be allowed, with a PG rating or collapsible warning in the other sections, which I personally consider to be technical areas. What do you think?

  • Poser Ambassadors

@matb Feeling offended. Who draw the red line what is offending? You know, there are always people who feel offended because of something. Some about nudity, others about religious signs, vegan about hamburger , than there a a few who call you racist because you post only Caucasian Vicky. If I have to worry each time I upload an image to hurt somebody's feelings, than it is time to leave this community.
I see all over the net, on FB, a handful offended people enter a art community, begin to claim that the images in this gallery is offending and suggest the people to move somewhere else with their "porn" .Even when there is just a innocent image which show only a bit more skin. Sorry, this is pure dictatur. If I enter a place, no matter if in real or online, and I don't like it, I leave it by my own and don't try to push out people from there.
I see on FB the last weeks 4 Photographers sites was closed down. And they post nothing offending. No genitals, no breasts visible.
And you had to join their sites to see images. So why the hell people join sites and instead of leaving it when they feel offended, reporting it and let this site shut down? This " I am offended" get out of control and I refuse to support this dictatorship any longer. For the record, Art is existing since human living on earth. And as artist you should know Art can be also contain some artistic nudity. And I am not talking about Porn, Nazi crap, Violence, blood and splatter. I talk about tasteful art.
If the human would follow the "I feel offended" crowd, we would miss over the centuries many old master and also new master. The world would be less rich in Art.

  • @Ladonna
All I can add to the discussion - "I concur"
... but then I come from a country where you see breasts on the beach and full frontal nudity after 8-30 pm on commercial TV. (Can be anytime on Pay TV)

@tastiger I never feel offended by tasteful artistic nudity. When I see Photographs who portrait the human body in a beautiful artistic way, this is for me a hommage to the human body. Nothing insulting.
Where I was as woman honestly offended, the Woman's march with their Pussy hats. Disgusting and insulting to every woman .Their chairwoman, Madonna, Milley, who insult every man as "dirty white old man" make their money with Porn on stage in front of children. But this is OT now ;)

  • This just reminds me of that early 2000's clip from Budweiser:

    click to show

As to the previous posting about being unable to understand —one's gender being depicted "as meat" [unless female?]...Unless I've misunderstood, I consider that (with no malice) to be bogus, and to be playing the —assumed safe— victim, knowing fully that it is politically incorrect to oppose an injured stance viewpoint. I would posit that just about the entire catalog of known romance fiction (where the novels all sport objectified men (like Fabio) in absurd fantasy poses (for basically one reason only) is plenty reason to understand one's gender being depicted "as meat". It's a less than fair double standard to discount this.

Personally, I'm in favor of descriptive links over NSFW shields; but that is because I'd rather not be downloading the files to begin with...(without some idea of what they depict); but this IS a render/Image thread, so of course viewing uploads should be expected, and links are kind of out of place; inconveniently take you away from the thread.

@mechanaut LMAO, this video is funny .
As a very independent woman, with own brain , immune against any slogan from so called "we rescue the world from old , dirty white man" I know very well the bigot double standards from some so called "feminist" . ;)

  • @Ladonna Thank you Holy Mother Ladonna for speaking for all women. We should all be so lucky as to be as smugly self righteous as you. France is lucky to have you.

Pardon? Where I said I speak for all woman? I speak for my self . You can agree with it or not. But I don't go with you at this low level of discussion.

  • @Ladonna Yes, I certainly agree wholeheartedly with your general sentiment against professional victimhood Ladonna, but you still agree there IS a line, and where you draw it is as arbitrary as society in general. Personally, I think we'd be happier if we were all nude all the time, and had an attitude towards nudity and even sex more like some Eastern cultures.

In reference to the quotes you offered, respectfully, they're just like, your opinions man (wo-man). But they do illustrate the issue. As you rightly point out, everything risks offending SOMEONE. If shvr set the level here at PG, there would still be some Muslims or Amish who got upset that ankles were showing. And if it was X, there'd be those who wanted to show animals or... well I'll leave it to your imagination. I kind of think that the level in an open forum should be around what you would place on an advertising hoarding, and then stronger in the art gallery. That is still exclusionary to some but it strikes a reasonable balance.

I much prefer Cale's comment. I really agree that artistic expression enables all of us to explore a vital part of ourselves.

  • Poser Ambassadors

@matb Yes, you understand me well. There is a line, we already draw it. It is a compromise which is okay for both sides. There is no need to stretch this line further. Not from one and not from the other side.

  • I guess all I can add further is to say that it's because of restrictions and the need not to offend is why when I come up with anything half way decent (which is rarely these days) I refrain from posting on the "public" sites and use my own site - that way I only have to please myself and not worry if there is a nipple or worse showing, just in case I put a huge flashing warning on the landing page that informs folks that they will encounter artistic nudity on the following pages and gives them the option to leave.

  • Poser Ambassadors

@tastiger I have very, very rare pin ups and those are very decent. I stop to post regularly over Renderosity a few years ago , when somebody reported a image from me because Nudity Violence. It was a Ghost image with V4 full clothed , but my Ghost brushes ( buy at the MP from Ilona) offend somebody. They was to "nude" , what ever this means to her/him. Never get any decent answer why my photoshop ghost brushes are against the Nudity guidelines , so I stop uploading.

  • Just to avoid any confusion in my previous post, when I used the word decent, I was referring to the quality of the image and whether it is something I think is worthwhile sharing not that I tend to do pinups all the time. (let's face it - a quick look through the online galleries show a great amount of images that shouldn't see the light of day, particularly those with gravity defying breasts etc.)

Actually in fact since the RDNA "merger" with DAZ and not being needed to test there anymore I have had more time to explore my other software and have transitioned somewhat more towards landscapes and SciFi inspired renders, now my challenge is to include some Poser figures in those renders, which I am lucky that Carrara, Vue and Mojoworld are relatively Poser friendly.
