AMD Threadripper: Can Poser use all CPU 32 Threads?
-
Hello
I think about an new render PC. So my question is if anybody has experience with the new AMD Threadripper 1950X CPU. It's a 16core/32threads CPU.
Can poser use all 32 threads? Do you have 32 parallel rendering squars while rendering?
-
I may be wrong but I don't believe Poser can make use of the Ryzen core due to the need for CUDA cores to GPU render.
-
It should do for a CPU render. I could go up to 32 threads in my Poser11Pro.
-
@raven That is the number of CPU cores you are showing, not the number of GPU cores. They are not the same thing. I must admit to being a little jealous of your number till I checked my own settings to see that I was not using everything I have on this system to it's fullest extent.
-
And the OP was talking about a cpu. Using a GPU doesn't give the option of threads, at least using my 980ti doesn't anyway.
-
@raven Thank you
Yes I always render with CPU. I think it will buy the new AMD CPU with 32 threads. It seems it works :-)
-
@raven I will buy the 1060ti. For editing with many objects it would be better than my 660ti now. But I will not render with GPU. I render with CPU
-
@joker I only have an old i72600k so my GPU takes the brunt of my rendering :)
I would like a newer cpu but I don't have the cash. I would love that many cores! :)

???? tell that to my Ryzen 1600x

@ghostship as pointed out above; I was mistaken not noticing the question was Cpu and not Gpu
-
It works for me with 40 CPU threads/dual Xeoi. I see no reason why it shouldn't work with a Threadripper CPU.

Hi there
As above guys said, you can use ThreadRipper 1950X with Poser or any renderer unless this renderer is exclusively GPU like is Octane or Redshift and few others, just get good cooler that's it,Noctua making nice cooler for TR4 and will cool yours 1950x easily and motherboard have look on X399 Taichi and really 1950x really likes fast RAM
Hope this helps and good luck
Thanks,Jura
