Skydome and Diffuse IBL does not work together?
Is it not possible to use the Skydome of TerraDome tohgether with an Diffuse IBL light? I unchecked "casts shadows" in the Skydome, but the diffuse IBL light pass not through the skydome. Is there a solution to use both?
@joker 1 the function of a skydome and IBL is the same except that the skydome will also create needed reflections.
2 IBLs do not work in Superfly.
Yes I only want the light of the IBL without the light source itself is visible (to brigthen the shadows)
But the IBL works in superfly as soon I switch off the skydome or uncheck the schadows of the IBL. But I want the shadows of the IBL otherwise it looks unrealistic.
but If this not works I must use big area light sources to brighten the shadows...
@joker no. Don't do that.
what you want to do to brighten the scene is brighten the skydome.
the problem is, if I brighten the skydome. the picture of the sky is getting to bright.
it looks ok with the big area light. it just has to be far away from the szene
@joker if you add area lights to the scene it'll just look like a cheap instamatic photo with flash for lighting.
@joker what are you using for an HDRI image?
You can set up a prop or dome in Poser so that it will emit more light without blowing out what you see in the render.
The trick is to use a light path node.
This is how I set it up to just use the background, and then have the ability to raise or lower the light without affecting the background. You can use a similar setup with props, etc.
The part that separates diffuse from the light it, is the lightpath node using Diffuse Ray.
What you see in the render as the background, is what is displayed in the Background node.
What lights it, is in the color math node.
To lower the light, use grayscale in Value 1 of that node.
To increase it, use grayscale in Value 2.
See this thread for info about the settings within the mapping node.
@ghostship I just use a normal sky picture
thank you very much for your answers.
it works perfectly with the way that shvrdavid shows.
Thank you very much. That works perfectly with this simple configuration.
