How many Poser 9+ user are still there?

    FF on an W7 i7...

That's my setup as well, though I do dabble in SuperFly. I'm a Blender user, so Cycles is something I'm trying to get a handle on as well. I just don't want FireFly to disappear as yet, because I'm just not as comfortable with SuperFly as I'd like to be . . . especially when just running quick renders while beta testing. Running them in SuperFly would just take too much time, and no one but the vendor I'm testing for is ever going to see them.

An Artistic Render of the final product, of course, is another story, but having both render engines is important to me, so I don't want to see FireFly disappearing any time soon either.

@erogenesis Honestly Ero, I make a party when People drop FF. To build shader for Cycles and FF brings me on my limit with my nerves. lol Mess up already twice and now have to begin again new with saving out the shader .
I thought to make something simple after try to rig pants for Evo will calm me down. Now I know I was wrong here. lol

@Miss-B I have to say I am blowing away from Blenders Cycles. Hope SM will adopt all the features here.
Pretty easy to set up a really great render in Blender. The lights and the Dome are pure epic.
Cross fingers that SM will have it for us soon in Poser too.

From the perspective of a content creator, I don't blame you. The moment I even think about making something for Poser the usual questions are: what about DAZ? What about a male? What about V4, what about Genesis 2? Dawn? Superfly? What about M4? What about Poser 7? Reality? Iray? C4D? Octane? And yeah I wasn't enjoying making SF shaders for Evo. Its too much. Its tiring. I think the conversions should be supplied with the software, because vendors are spending too much time deciding what to supply, who to be loyal to, and trying to accommodate for the MILLION different systems available... and not concentrating on making actual original stuff.

The latest version of Blender (2.79) has a new render feature called Denoising. I am sooooo wanting that in SuperFly, I could spit!! I haven't played with it Blender yet, mostly because I can't find it, but from what I've read about it, we sorely need in for SuperFly renders in P11/PP11.

Yes, SuperFly is based on Cycles, but there are differences, and some of them drive me crazy. Hopefully SuperFly will become more like Cycles with each new version update.

Well, dummy that I am, I just realized why I couldn't find it . . . I had the default Blender render engine selected. Denoising only appears in the Render Layers section of the Properties Editor if the Cycles render engine is selected. ~smacks self upside the head~

@erogenesis You are soo right. I set up a huge collection shader for SF for the Bijoux set .They look really good.
Now try to archive something very similar for FF. I was so disappointed because my polka dots and stripes looks not even close to the SF shaders.
For DAZ studio I make no convert . Enough for me with one system. And fit on different character I don't do it too.
The Bijoux is created for Evo and if people want to use them on other character, they are easy to refit.
Because honestly, where to start and where to end here? Bella, V4, Pauline, Dawn , Roxie .
Second, this Bijoux set match a hybrid dynamic set. Palazzo pants and top.
Would mean I would need to model this outfit for other characters too. Nobody will pay for this lol
This is what I am working on for her now. The pants are dynamic, the top rigged. And some beads bijoux. (Shoes still in modeler) .
I think when vendors try to please every taste and wish, they mess up. You can simply not please everybody . And on the other hand, different characters are also hard to manage. My motto is, pick one,two and try to be as good as possible with them. To create stuff for to much characters works at last for me, not really well.

@Miss-B Blender is great. I never thought I would like it, but this software is fantastic. And free. We are only hobby modeler and artists (my husband and me) . He was till now a die hard 3DSMax user. I use LW and Max. (Not so die hard, because I learn modeling in Cinema and now switched also to Blender lol).
But the Autodesk Subscription is a Overkill for every Hobby artists. So we switch .
And I have to say, did not regret it.Blender has many fantastic tools, a great render engine and a huge community. Just perfect.
This Eeviee from Blender looks also promising. Can only get get better now :)

  • @Ladonna I've used several different modeling apps over the years, and I've always come back to Blender, first because it's free, and second, because it's community is huuuuuuuuuge. The fact there's such a large Blender community, with so many constantly working to make it better, is probably THE thing for a successful piece of software.

I know a lot of folks who have cringed every time they try to work in Blender, mostly because they find the UI hard to figure out, and I keep telling them that I've been using it for approximately 10 years now, and if they think the current UI is hard to figure out, they should've played with the 2.4x versions. Now THAT was confusing, and yet I stuck with it.

I also have Silo, which I like because I got it inexpensively during a special sale, and it's UI is nice and clean. It was the first modeling software I was able to use to model clothing. I've since done so in Blender, but up until recently, the only modeling I could do successfully in Blender were props and environment type items. I'm getting better at clothes modeling in Blender, and that's making me happy, as I prefer it's UV Editor to Silo's.
