(Japanese) Superfly and shaders
-
Kyotaro san has provided some comparisons of the Superfly and Firefly results, plus some discussion. Please use web browser translation to see the blog post in your language. The graphics more or less explanatory, though.

Looks like some great info. I just have to figure out how to translate into English.
-
@ghostship - i have the translation plug in installed in my Google Chrome web browser; another way is to copy the URL and put it into the blank at translate.google.com (Not always a perfect translation).
-
Here's a Google Translate link: https://translate.google.com/translate?sl=auto&tl=en&js=y&prev=_t&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&u=http%3A%2F%2Frutenshikai.blog63.fc2.com%2Fblog-entry-525.html&edit-text=&act=url
Edit- Add: After reading the translation, it appears he's discussing the old "tricks" of playing with Diffuse channel and Ambient channel values in order to "fake" certain effects. SSS was faked in this way, back in "the day."
He's applying these methods to increase what appears to be the specularity of the object in Superfly, I think, using the "radiation" from the Ambient or Diffuse channel to produce specularity similar to the PBR materials in Superfly (I am not familiar with those materials) much like what used to be done in Firefly and still is, at times.
I hope I got that right. I'm not a NodeCulter, so I can never be sure. :)
