EZDome - a new Skydome/Environment Sphere from SnarlyGribbly
-
SnarlyGribbly has made a new script to create skydomes and to manage HDR images for use in lighting Poser scenes and providing background images for environment dome.
EZDome is now ready for beta testing.
The beta verson of EZDome has these features:
-
Creation of Bagginsbill's EnvDome, EnvHemisphere and EnvSphere models (with kind permission from BB)
-
Uses an inner and an outer dome for maximum flexibility
-
IBL archive library manager
-
Creation of sIBL archives from custom images
-
Sun creation, automatically matching background HDRI
-
Dome can be rotated and tilted
-
Contrast, intensity, hue and saturation controls for both inner dome and outer
-
Ability to pick sun location by clicking on HDRI preview
-
Material set save option
-
Delete all lights and turn off all lights tools
-
Configurable settings
You can download EZDome from here: http://snarlygribbly.org/snarlyspace/ezdome.html
-
-
Here is an example of what EZDome can do:
Original render with EZDome applied in default state.
There is on infinite light as the sun, the sun matches the sun in the HDRI in the background. Here is a modified one with EZDome:
The background has not changed, but the coloring, intesity of the overal light has because I made changed in the outerdome which controls the global lighting
Here are the changes:
The preset I used here is one from the sIBLArchive (http://hdrlabs.com/sibl/archive.html)
You can import it directly and use it as a preset

Loving this ... in ... Superfly!

just curious: Some of the .ibl files that I have are getting error/invalid file type when trying to add them to the library. Anybody else having this issue? What is the cause? Do I need to edit the .ibl file in some sort of text editor to fix the problem?

I have come across several .ibl files which contain invalid characters in seemingly blank lines at the end of the file.
Open the .ibl in a plain text editor and delete any blank lines at the end, and it should then work fine.

@Snarlygribbly that worked!
Would love to see a nested menu for the IBL list so they can be organized (I have a lot of these HDRI's already)

v1.1 has filtering by user-definable metadata:
-
You set the metadata in the Library editor
-
v1.1 Also has bulk import of sIBL files from a folder and all its subfolders
-
@Snarlygribbly Wow! That was quick! :D
-
Is that the latest download now? (Still listed as version 040)

What does the "s" in sIBL stand for?
-
@eclark1849 According to HDRLabs, it standards for Smart IBL "a universal toolkit for image based lighting". The have a page on their site that explains it.
