Cycles Development Roadmap video

  • From Blender Conference 2016. Poser is mentioned.

  • Poser cycles developers were at this convention. Also, Poser memory usage is going to be widened/expanded/increased for the rendering of cycles materials.

  • optimisation of motion-blur put on back burner MIPMAPs cpu texture caching 2017 Movie and animation support 2017

No one assigned to working on these yet: Adaptive sampling

Disney PBR shaders don't yet work for hair

Volume rendering is still limited, need to reduce noise, improve performance

Statistics from rendering (Poser has some of this, but not for production-scale projects in studios for other software)

Motion-blur for shader parameters, but not undertaken for development (interesting !)

Most industry has gone for UDM textures, rather than pTEX (no real progress on that in last few years)

Cycles versioning as per Blender not necessarily same as say for Poser

  • LOL, shadow catcher gets a cheer!

  • Thank you for sharing.

When ShadowCatcher will be released for example, how will it be for us : can we upgrade cycle ourselves or must we wait for a Poser Serial release with new cycle version ?

  • @lsauvage Superfly is an adaptation of Cycles so, yes, we would have to wait for the Poser team to implement this feature.

  • @ibr_remote said in Cycles Development Roadmap video:

I should clarify that - it's the Cycles and related renderers that are going to be made better at using main memory, so that larger scenes may be rendered.
