New La Femme Base Figure for Poser 11 Now Available

    @eclark1849 No, i was not saying this. But look at all threads about her. Almost only negative comments.
    I really ask my self what is wrong with the Poser community.
    Every new figure get trashed after a few hours. Problems ,which are none, get hyped to an excess.
    This encourage no one vendor to create anything new for this software.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @eclark1849 Sorry ,but exporting a rigged figure to another one is simply not to 100% possible. Never was, never will.In no one application.
    Or should now the vendors rig their stuff for 20 software to ease the Poser user.

    @miss-b The other hand is, is not much different from DAZ store when they put out a new Genesis character.
    Buy 2-3 new releases for the character and get the character for free.
    Here you even don't need to buy 2-3 items. And have after the basic for free.

    Oh, I'm not dissing the fact you have to buy one to get one free. Everyone knows what a BOGO is, but I think they could've set it up so folks knew in advance that's what they would have to do. I'm a long time Renderosity customer, as that was the first 3D forum I ever joined back when I was only using Bryce (before DAZ got their hands on it), but those who are fairly new to Poser and Renderosity's minimum purchase requirement are going to be disappointed.

    Once I thought about it, I remembered having this issue quite a while ago with something that was on sale for like $2.50, but that was the only time I came cross it, as I usually purchase more than one item if they're on sale for really good prices, so totally forgot about this.

    I just think Renderosity should have stated upfront, that you have to have another item of $3.50 or more in the Cart at the same time in order to purchase it. I don't think that's too much to ask.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @miss-b With this I agree, like I write before. They should mention it . You get her for free,when you buy something from the MP.
    Fair enough. She is a very nice, decent figure.Morphs,expressions ,all there. And for free.
    And yes, she is free, even when you have to buy something to get her.
    At last people could give her some chance . Almost every of us has a huge wishlist,buy regular over Renderosity stuff.
    So to buy something to get her, for most of the Poser user not really a big deal breaker.

I've never used Genesis, but I do know there are utilities that allow you to migrate the Studio version for use in Poser. I was just interested in whether a utility or app like that could be made for the new figure.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @eclark1849 You don't get the point. This is a Poser figure which suppose to support POSER and not DS. Did Daz rigg their Genesis for Poser to gain more sales?
    As for any other application. To rig for another software, you need to own it. Some are free, some are hell expensive. IClone , I don't know, but I could think that they ask for licence fee for their supporting other figures. So a lot of investment for any vendor. Look at some marketplaces for how much they sell multiple rigged figure. $750 and you are in the game.Minimum.
    Now imagine a vendor has all his desired tools. But he will also need to learn proper rigging in each of them. Cost time, money ( tutorials,courses). How much would you except to pay for this figure? Because the vendor would like to get some of his money and time back.
    Sorry Earl, but this is something so unrealistic that it hurts to read.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @eclark1849
    Hi Earl,

    everybody can get every figure in any app of their choice.

    All apps can load obj files and/or fbx files and all apps have tools to create or transfer a rigging.
    And he who can create a figure rigging, can create the clothing rig for the figure.
    And knowing your tools is an essential know-how to get anything done anyway.

    Each and every figures limitations are in the hands of the customer.

    The obj goes through Blender and the Diffuse texture goes through Krita for their respective clean-ups, and we are good to go. Give me an obj and a diffuse texture, that's all I need to get anything working in any app.

    @Ladonna
    if a certain figure "needs" a tutorial to get her going, there is something basically wrong, or its creator is deviating from the standard, or they re-invented the hot water and it turned out not so hot after all.

    Standard figures don't need tutorials, they follow the standard and they just work.

    That is where the succes of some of the competing apps comes from ; Load, pose and render. No messing around. It just works out of the box.

    Every time you "need" a tutorial, or every fight with a "non standard", costs popularity.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @vilters Tony, to be honest, to learn proper rigging in different apps ,you need tutorials to move quick forward. And this is what i point out. I am not talking about to use it in Poser, I talk about to rig it in Blender PROPERLY, DS, Maya, Max, or where ever .Or you want to tell me you learn rigging for any application in a few hour? Don't get ridiculous.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @ladonna
    Ach,
    rigging is basically always the exact same thing.
    Ok, the visual representation might be different among the apps, but basically it is always the same. A bone, a group and painting weights. It's like driving a car. Ford or Mercedes all have a steering wheel, a gas and brake pedal.

    It is the study of the human joints and how they move in relationship with and to each other that is the most time consuming part. Once you have this under your belt? Rigging becomes the easy part whatever app you are in.

    Looks like you never rigged for 3DS Max, Maya as example. Also not for LW. There works nothing out of the box. You have to go the hard way and make your hands dirty.

    Agreed. I was just saying basically the same thing the other day in the V4 thread on rosity. People aren't happy unless they have something to complain about. I could have had my figures finished and released last year, but this sort of whining and complaining is exactly why I haven't been in a hurry to bother finishing them. They'll always find something to bitch and moan about. Now it's over the $3.50. Seriously? There's no reason the figure should be free at all.

  • Like others, I went and got her and her cute heels to complement the figure. LF's beginning to grow with me. Not to beat a dead horse, but they should've been clearer in their marketing approach (if it's free then say so w/o catches/strings attached), but other than that, it's looking good so far!

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @vilters Tony, discussing with you is pointless. For you everybody is stupid and only you have the holy grail for all the problems.
    No, rigging is not in every app the same. Like car driving is not the same in every car. Go from your Peugeot in a Ferrari. Watch and cry. ( I speak out of experience ; i try out a friends car which is a Ferrari.)

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @ladonna
    Correct.
    Why would I when other apps can do it better and for free?
    I started very- very long ago ago in anim8or. Now THAT is old time school.Then Hex and now Blender.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    @vilters Well not everybody use Blender. Some like other apps more, some use Max, Maya because of their working pipeline for production.
    Maya as example is unbeaten ( IMHO) in animation.
    Max is awesome in technical modeling (that is why Didier my husband use it very long)
    I like LW because it has some features which even 3DSMax don't has.
    Fortunately we are all different and love different stuff.
    Blender is great, but I need very long to get warm with it.
    That Blender is the best in rigging, well till now I have not any proof of this.

  • A new poser figure made by the best creators around! $3.50 for something I already wanted and I get the new figure for free? How can you beat that? I mean, who worries over $3.50? I'm so tired of seeing great content I can't use in Poser (Genesis 3 and Genesis 8. I may be a poser user but I can see the stuff made for those figures is pretty good!) now I get to see something new for us! Tempesta3D already has a great morph that gets out of my wishlist next payday. I hope Evil Innocence is still making crossdresser licenses. You know, I wondered what happened to Chuck (nerd3d). Nice to see him come out with a winner.

  • Wow, new base figure! First I thought, huh, do I really need yet another female base figure? After all, I have and use V4, Dawn and Evolution. But.... she was almost free... I got her with the Superfly Studio lights, because one can always use decent lights. And I have to say the hd morphs do look great. Well... I'll definitively give her a try.

  • Poser Ambassadors

    She looks great out of the box.
    Here a render with no morphs, just Tempesta texture.

  • I like that headdress a lot! What is it, may I ask? Lokks like Gray Cloud Design to me?

    Great render, too^^ I think I will get the tempesta texture and the morph packs for LF. Although what I'd really really like ist that texture blackhearted used in many of his promos - with the freckles and the little heart tattoo.

    Dusk and Dawn were originally rigged in DS and converted to Poser. That was also done during Poser 9/2012. Things have changed since then. There are a few features that would not work correctly - or not at all - between the two apps now.

    Just off the top of my head - the control props in La Femme's face and other regions would be lost in DS. Smooth Translations (part of what makes the facial rigging - as well as other parts - work in Poser) is a Poser only feature. DS can't read them, so facial rigging would have to be changed. Poser's HD morphing also would not work in DS, as it's a feature in DS that is reserved only for Daz vendors. There are a few others, but those are the ones I can think of right now. So it would basically require supporting two rather different versions of the same figure. More involved than it is to support Dawn/Dusk in Poser and DS.
