When was FireFly introduced ?
-
I have been modernising some third-party character sets to work with Poser Pro 11.1 and I need to be sure I am rendering them with whatever render engine was available back in the day when this content was created. When was the Firefly rendering engine introduced with Poser ? Wasn't there a Poser render engine as well, if I am not mistaken ?
-
Poser 5, introduced Firefly.
Poser6, came with some changes, a few node setups worked differently.
Sorry I cannot remember when the poser4 renderer was dropped, around 8 or 9?

Thanks - that's helpful to me. It explains a lot in terms of why I am having some difficulty changing settings for this very old content.

The "Poser4" renderer was dropped with the introduction of P8 / PP2010.
The last Poser version that came with it was "Poser Pro" version of Poser7.
FireFly was the only renderer until SuperFly was introduced in P11.

Was Firefly the only one? Didn't we also have the OpenGL hardware renderer, and the Sketch renderer? Maybe not the most used, but I think they were there.

@ken1171
Well, in theory, yes.
But I never considered them as alternatives to FireFly.

@karina and lets just hope they don't have another renderer if they ever release a new version of Poser!
